Isaiah 55:6
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
This is a clarion call to those that proclaim the name of Christ. As we round the midpoint of the year 2008, let us reflect on all the things that God has done in our lives. Reflect on the good times when you saw the doors miraculously open and the blessings of heaven come down on your behalf. Then thank God for His grace, thank God for His provision, thank God for His protection, thank God for His goodness, thank God for being God in your life.
Next, reflect on the trials and mishaps that occurred in 2008 that did not go according to your plans; those hurts that we experienced due to wrong choices or the wrong people; the unexpected, often times, life interrupting circumstances that leave us pondering our own existence in this life. With the fullness of ourselves, force out a shout of praise and thanksgiving unto God for allowing these situations to come into our lives. Thank God for trusting you enough to endure the heartache and to come out a better individual on the other side. Thank God for His ever enduring love that kept you sane and protected you throughout the process. Thank God for every mistake, missed step, mishap, and sidetrack that has occurred in your life this year for these obstacles were placed to slow you down and to develop you further for the new challenges that lay ahead.
Once you have completed this exercise, begin to seek God for direction for your life. What should my focus be? What is my purpose? What is the vision for my life? What needs to be changed and/or developed in my life (personally, socially, professionally, and spiritually)? How does God see you in His plan for your life or are you the captain and He is your faithful sidekick? If you have been off track with God for a season, then take the time to reaffirm your relationship with Him (rededicate your life to Him) as your Lord and Savior.
Lastly, if you are reading this message and you know (or you are uncertain) as to where your life will lead; if you are not secure with your current state of affairs and wish to develop a relationship with Christ. If, during this season, you reflect and realized that you do not know where your eternal home will be, then take a moment and utter this prayer to begin a new life knowing that Christ is the center and heaven is your eternal home.
“Lord Jesus, in this season of giving, I realize that I have not given as much of myself to you as I should. Your sacrifice was so great that it is selfish of me not to allow you full access to my life. I recognize that my life has not lined up to your expectations and even with my good intentions, I still fall short. It is not by my works that I will make it to heaven but by the works of your son. Jesus died on my behalf, was buried and miraculously rose from the dead so that I would have the ability to ask for forgiveness. It was this selfless act that He became everything that God detested in order to give me another chance of not only eternal life but also having the abundant life here on earth. Forgive me Father for everything that did not please you. I accept Christ as Lord and Savior of my life. My life is no longer my own because of the price that Christ paid on the cross. I am now a new person in Him and from this point forward, my life will never be the same. Thank you Father. Amen.”
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found – this is our clarion call – what will you choose to do?
